Cruise Liner Symposium: Durban to Bazaruto Island and back

SAIMM invites you to attend the Lead and Zinc 2008 Symposium aboard a luxury cruise liner 'The Melody'.

This is a four-night cruise leaving Durban Harbour on the morning of Monday 25 February 2008, with a brief stop-over at Bazaruto Island on Wednesday, returning to Durban Harbour late afternoon on Friday 29 March. The cruise ship offers delegates a unique venue for conferences, with all amenities and accommodation already on board. The 532 comfortable en-suite cabins are large and all are equipped with television. Sprawling outdoor deck space surrounds the two swimming pools. A highlight of the ship is the Magradome, a retractable transparent dome that allows you to enjoy the swimming pool even if the skies cloud over.

Bazaruto Island
Bazaruto Island is the largest in the Bazaruto Archipelago, with towering dunes and large lakes frequented by many water birds and even crocodiles. The island has a hundred-year-old lighthouse on the northern point, that serves as a signal to the many ships which pass by the channel up the east coast of Africa. The island is particularly good for surf fishing, and there are rubber ducks to take divers to various reefs along the coast.
